The LWC Mission and History

As the Liberated Women Club, it is our mission to educate and encourage the people of our society to acknowledge that we will no longer be chained to the definitions, views, duties, or destinies that society has set for us. We will not be silent, we will not be submissive, we will not give in to bias, discrimination, or double standards. We will rise above in one voice, strong and empowered, to set new standards for ourselves and define our own destiny. We are Liberated Women.

The Liberated Women Club was created as a support group between friends. It all began at a Starbucks when three young women got together to talk and encourage each other with their projects and to support or help each other with their men troubles. As women, we have felt men and society’s scorn and we have decided to strengthen together in unison. We are not pioneers, we are three more voices united against a world of prejudice. Many women have fought for the right to have a voice in this world and we are doing our duty to continue the fight. It might seem to some that the fight is over but we know that it is not. Like many out there, we were also blind once but we have seen with newly opened eyes, hearts and minds that it is not over yet. Some may call us feminist but we say we are equalist, we don’t view ourselves better than anyone but the same. We are Liberated Women, we are no longer in the shadows, no longer tied to society’s restraints. We are three women trying to help people see what we see. We have made a commitment to support each other and spread our thoughts, ideas and opinions to others. We are college students, we are coffee lovers, we are Puerto Ricans but more importantly we are WOMEN. We are the Liberated Women Club.
